When it comes to learning new skills as a maker it can be hard to find the time to signup and take an in person instructor lead class.  Often free time is in sort supply and/or you have an erratic non 9-5 schedule.  Or you may be in a small town or remote area that doesn’t have much access to quality courses.

Online training offers an easy point of access to most everyone, but there are a lot of options out there which can make the search overwhelming.  One great source of a broad range of creative-centric learning we have found is CreativeLive.

CreativeLive uses a freemium pricing model, the classes are free to live stream or can be purchased to watch at a later date if they don’t match your immediate schedule.

Created by photographer Chase Jarvis and entrepreneur Craig Swanson in Seattle in 2010, they leverage their background to bring a wide range of industry experts as instructors for their courses, giving the viewer some of the best in breed real world experience across the topic areas. The CreativeLive classes are broadcast live from their own in-house production studios.

CreativeLive empowers you to unleash your potential by bringing the world’s greatest experts directly to you, live. Featuring workshops in photography, video, design, business, audio, music, crafting, and software training, CreativeLive unlocks previously closed doors by making dynamic education accessible to everyone.

Anyone can watch our live online workshops — for free — and interact with instructors in real time. The future of education is interactive, free, and live now. Join us.

The range of course offerings are very relevant to makers, from learning new photo and video skills for documenting your projects, small business and money management to help get the most out of every dollar you make, to actual craft/maker specific courses to learn new skills.

When you have a few free minutes be sure to checkout the free On-Air broadcasts page for the latest live courses in session.  You may pickup some great new tips for free, or get insight into a course you’d like to purchase to take in full on demand as your schedule better allows.

Note – We are a CreativeLive affiliate and the links provided do provide us a small amount of funding if you purchase any of their offerings.  As with everything we share we only recommend items we truly believe in and have used.  Like you we are just a small business and making every penny count is key.
