Unless you have been living off the grid or are fairly new to the maker scene, Jimmy Diresta is probably a name you have already heard, however our Maker Resource section would not be complete without including him.

Often times referred to as “The Godfather”, Jimmy is a New York-based designer, artist, and video producer, with a unique, honest, and to the point personality. Self described on his website:

DESIGNER. BUILDER. MAKER.
Hi I’m Jimmy DiResta, and I make things.
My goal is to educate, entertain and inspire. You can watch me make things, and become inspired to make your own things.

From wood to metal and everything in-between (including ongoing life lessons in sewage), Diresta touches a broad spectrum of topics within the maker field be it using traditional hand tools that he finds (often on the streets of New York) and repairs to the latest in automated CNC machines.

Beyond creating content for his own channels, Jimmy also is a regular contributor to Make and Core77 to name a few, as well as 1/3rd of the Making It Podcast trio.  His past work also took these same skills to television with series such as “Hammered” & “Dirty Money”

He has been featured as a guest on many podcasts and articles, including this great conversation on MakerCast that gives an overview of his background and approach to life & making.

His YouTube channel puts out a wide range of build videos on a constant basis and his recent venture into vlogging gives a great behind the scenes look at day to day life and upcoming projects.

Always an inspiration and a great representative for the community.
